Bug Description

I installed ubuntu and grub won't load. I even tried installing ubuntu on a flash drive so that when I make my bios boot loader show up my computer will be forced to load ubuntu cause of course that's all the flash drive contains. Also my computer boots from the live cd edition of ubuntu running on a flash drive just fine. Instead only my C drive and the flash drive containing the live cd version show up in my boot loader.

You mention BIOS, but you have filed this bug report against shim which is a UEFI bootloader. Is your system running UEFI? How does your boot menu look? Can you post the output of 'efibootmgr -v' when booted from the live CD?

You can also run 'apport-collect 1788781' when booted from the liveCD.

@Steve Langasek oops, secure boot doesn't explain why I was able to run persistent live usb's. I also repaired grub afterwards as the grub console kept appearing everytime I ran ubuntu.
