Spanish man page for passwd is outdated (1996)

In at least feisty and gutsy the Spanish man page for passwd is outdated (11 Noviembre 1996) and lists options which are not valid anymore. This causes confusion to users, who expect these options will still be available.

Original description;

in feisty issuing

passwd -o

responds that that option is unknown

In Gutsy passwd --help does not list -o as a valid option.
- Does passwd --help in feisty list -o as a valid option?
- What do you expect the -o option to do?

man passwd list -o and --force as valid options in feisty
the man page isn't sincronized with the software, or the option has
desappeard from the software

howevere, even in gutsy man passwd list -o and --force as valid options

Which language version of the man page are you reading?
Your signature suggests Italian but don suggests Spanish. Now I did indeed find the -o --force option in the Spanish man pages. The English and Italian man pages are OK, so it seems the man page translations are not up to date.

I was reading the spanish man page, the english one is different, and it
seems nearer to the behaviour of the command.

Actually is a man page translation bug.

Upstream moved to a PO based process to translate the manpages, and will gladly accept a Spanish PO file.

You can request a POT file on <email address hidden> (currently there are no POT file in the repository: http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/pkg-shadow/upstream/trunk/man/po/).
