Bug Description

Binary package hint: sendmail

Hi,

The init script for the Sendmail package in Dapper calls a "clean_queues" function, which does not check if there are still Sendmail processes running.

In a configuration where there's a separate queue runner, and all "/etc/init.d/sendmail stop" does is stop the listener, this can cause random queue files that are valid to be renamed out from underneath the delivery process, resulting in messages being delivered sans body.

This was fixed in 8.13.8-3 in Debian, so I'd suggest backporting the init script from that version to the version in Dapper.

I should say that "/etc/init.d/sendmail restart" or "/etc/init.d/sendmail start" after "/etc/init.d/sendmail stop" will cause random queue files that are valid to be renamed out from underneath the delivery process.
