Not quite related to the crash, but you'll need this patch as well to get things working:

This bug also appears when trying to run swell-foop:

$ swell-foop
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Changed in seed (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

I am marking this bug as fixed since:

 - lightsoff and swell-foop no longer depend on seed
 - no other package depends on seed
 - seed does start up without crashing
 - this bug is marked as fixed upstream

Thanks to the Ubuntu devels for the newer package versions that work!

Changed in seed (Ubuntu):
status: Confirmed → Fix Released

Concerning the upstream bug status discrepancy see bug #1049367.

Changed in gnome-seed:
importance: Unknown → Critical
status: Unknown → Expired
