Bug Description

The SearchAndRescue menu/selection is broken. Selecting Free flight -> Aircraft -> Weather shows all four these menus, on top of each other. (See screenshot.)

This is what I see when I press Free flight -> Aircraft -> Wheather in SearchAndRescue.

I just installed it on Dapper (0.8.2-3ubuntu1), and I have this bug as well, so it's not fixed sadly :o(
I filed bug report 6481 about it, sorry for the duplicate, but when I searched for "Searchandrescue" somehow Malone didn't return anything !!

I just found more of this overlapping, but not in the menu. After a tutorial or mission, you get this "what happened" stuff. There is overlap here.

I just noticed something: the video driver makes a difference !

I originally had the problem with a 10 year old Matrox Millenium II. Recently I bought a 3D card: an ATI Radeon 9250. By default it uses the 2D 'ati' driver. Using this, the problem still shows. However if I install the 'fglrx' driver, which enables H/W rendering, somehow, the problem goes away... go figure.
Sadly this fglrx driver doesn't work very well so I can't use it, so I must stick to the 'ati' 2D driver. :o(

I am setting this to low priority only because it would probably require some significant changes and upstream seems to be pretty dead.. Thank you.

i can confirm this still on 0.8.2-5ubuntu1.
when i tried to set full screen@1024x768 and pressed ok, it reverted to 320x480 in a window and got the overlap effect.
using the LRM nvidia module i think.

Old thread, but if anyone is still having this problem, try using --nomenubg. Works for me. By the way I'm running Feisty and all the menus were messed up. Hope this helps.

Bug still present in Ubuntu 8.10.
--nomenubg option worked for me too.
