Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
I always use Synaptic to "mark all upgrades" right after a fresh install. However, update-manager crashed while trying to update. Actually, so did update-notifier shortly thereafter when Synaptic tried to update it. I _think_ that update-manager may have been searching for updates before I started because it never told me that I had any available yet, or it could have been in a bad state before I started. When I installed Ubuntu 32-bit yesterday, it almost immediately offered updates, but not on my 64-bit install.
The packages that crashed on upgrade were not marked as broken afterward, but I used Synaptic to reinstall them just in case.
I apologize if this is a duplicate.
