Bug Description
Binary package hint: scribble
See Debian bug #472377.
Fixed in Debian version scribble/
The bug generates multiple lines of error messages every time I do an apt update.
Could we have a backport to maverick?
Cheers,
Peter
PS Wow, it's hard to report a simple bug in Ubuntu! I literally spent an hour trying to get the system to accept it -- even after all the login rigmarole it spits out "Constraint not satisfied", with no hint on what the constrain is. I still don't know.

PS. I got "Constraint not satisfied" when I used a longer (and more useful) bug title:
scribble 1.10-2 uses obsolete version specification in conflicts
So what constraint is not satisfied? I found nothing in Google, and just guessed that the string might be too long.
This is my first bug to Ubuntu -- I submit them regularly to Debian. While Ubuntu is generally more user-friendly than Debian, the bug-reporting system (in my very limited experience) is dramatically less user-friendly. In Debian. submitting a bug takes a few seconds; in Ubuntu, it took me an hour -- and the system is so complicated that there are many bugs I have not reported, since the barrier is so high. This Sunday morning, after a year or more of using Ubuntu, I decided to push through.
Simple suggestion: don't stop someone from submitting a bug because the description violates some secret constraint -- that's just not ubuntu!
Cheers,
Peter
