Bug Description
I'm running an up-to-date 12.04 testing system with Openbox, using Scim and Scim-bridge as IM engine and SeaMonkey as browser, on an EeePC 900.
If Scim is enabled to work with Java-based (and some other non-gtk/non-qt) programs - which it is by default with the en_US.UTF-8 locale - then the following behaviour occurs:
The location bar in Seamonkey allows me to enter one or at most two characters before appearing to lock up. The characters are going into the keyboard buffer, but aren't displaying until I either hit <enter> or click the mouse in the location bar area.
Firefox shows a less severe form of the same behaviour. The first couple of characters will appear in the location bar, then nothing, but will subsequently appear when I stop typing.
I'm using ordinary English characters when this happens.
This doesn't happen in Lucid.
Note: because my default locale is en_NZ.UTF-8, the behaviour isn't enabled by default. I have to add the locale to the first line of /etc/scim/global. Whether I do this or just run programs with LANG=en_US.UTF-8, I get the problem just the same.
As en_US.UTF-8 is the default English locale, this is likely to affect a number of people.
I am sorry to hear about your problems and I apologize for the delayed response. Let me ask you first if you are still experiencing this problem. There are other similar reports, but the program works fine for me.
