Seconded. The current version of SCIM even segfaults for some people (me included), and it'd be nice to see a newer version of SCIM at any rate.

Debian has 1.4.1, it'll be automatically synced soon since the package has no Ubuntu changes

Thanks for the quick response, but doesn't the sync'ing occur whenever a new version of ubuntu releases? Didn't it already happen for breezy?

We released Breezy (it now is "stable" and isn't changed except for severe security issues). Now we're developing Dapper, which will soon get syncs from Debian.

When did Breezy freeze though? A fix was requested before Breezy was released.

FYI, grabbing the latest version manually from Ubuntu's site worked for me, except that scim-tables-* would not install due to a conflict. You will need to download scim-tables 0.5.x from scim's website (scim-tables 0.5.x is not packaged yet, even for debian, and previous versions of scim-tables don't work with scim 1.4.x)

For me, the debs of 1.4.1.1 worked (I took them from here: http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/debian/pool/main/s/scim/).

scim-m17n I could find was 0.1.3. So, I had to compile this one from source (I got the source from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/scim/scim-m17n-0.1.4.tar.gz?download).

While compiling any of these, libscim8, scim-dev and libscim-dev and many of those other debs are required to be installed.

I don't use scim-m17n.
