Bug Description
Binary package hint: scim
In the default installation of Ubuntu 8.04, scim is enabled by default. And the default configuration has "shift+space" as a setting to trigger SCIM.
In my opinion this is retarded, as it makes entering capitalized text (by using the shift key) impossible.
This made me wonder if my keyboard needed a replacement for maybe a week until i figured out what was to blame.
The problem occured to me several times a day.

I had exactly the same. Using Shift+Space is dumb, if you're asking me. It's a commonly used key combination, especially in the English language (the capital i, with a space right afterwards).
The other keybindings aren't well chosen either (defaulting to Ctrl+Alt+Right which is mostly used for virtual desktop switching)
