Bug Description

today, I booted my hardy computer and found SCIM (with its panel notification icon) running, and activatind each time I hit shift+space, making me type in russian. SCIM was nowhere to be found in the session startup properties and right-click-quitting the panel icon made it reappear instantly. The only way for me to get rid of this was removing all those scim packages in synaptic.

Just reporting this to let you know.

I had not heard of it before it appeared in my toolbar and I started typing in a different language.
I was able to disable it by editing its settings.

Changed in scim:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Confirmed

Same here, I had to remove shift+space as a hotkey and now everything is fine. That particular hotkey combination is annoying because obviously at the start of most sentences you type a space before pressing shift for the capital letter.
