Two things:
 - the package does not build because of missing dependencies, did you try to build it?
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
pbuilder-satisfydepends-dummy: Depends: libjgraphx-java (>= 1.2.0.7) but it is not installable
Depends: libjhdf5-java (>= 2.6) but it is not installable
 - This sync request is unnecessary. 1) We're not in DebianImportFreeze yet (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LucidReleaseSchedule), 2) the package in Lucid is unmodified.

Oh, so scilab will be synced automatically ?

I filed this request when 5.2.0-2 was the latest version.
As I see now the maintainer has uploaded version 5.2.0-3 which introduces the new version dependency which cannot be satisfied by the libraries in lucid.

I have to ask the maintainer why he did that.

Thanks for your response!

Hello
jhdf5 & jgraphx are now available.
Could you sync from the latest Debian package of Scilab (5.2.0-6) which has many improvements on the current version ?
Thanks

Hi,

I've tried to build the package, and it still FTBFS:
...
After installing, the following source dependencies are still unsatisfied:
libjhdf5-java(inst 2.5-8 ! >= wanted 2.6)
Source-dependencies not satisfied; skipping scilab

Unsubscribing u-u-s for the moment, Please subscribe sponsors again when the package builds correctly in Lucid.

Thanks,
Fabrice

I killed generation after one hour without outputs:

Note: namesp. cut : stripped namespace before processing Scilab manual

Please check what's happening with the build

Fabrice: sometime, this part takes forever... The docbook stylesheet used to generate the documentation can be quite slow.

You need a Feature Freeze exception [1] for the sync.

Oh, I am sorry. I thought it was not necessary because the bug was initial filed before Feature Freeze.

Well, the benefits are:
 - _lots_ of bug fixes. See the PDF here: http://www.scilab.org/products/scilab/download/5.2.1/Changes-for-5.2.1
 - Major improvements to Xcos. Have a look at details here: http://www.scilab.org/products/scilab/download/5.2.1/whatsnew
 - The scilab-cli package now allows scilab to be used as a command line tool.
 - It compiles :) It just takes some hours. So don't get impatient: https://launchpad.net/~getdeb-package-managers/+archive/ppa/+packages

I also tested the new version and it works.
It also updates fine from the version currently in the lucid universe repository.

So I see no reason for not including it

ann & plotlib will work without any problems since it is only Scilab macros (script)
sivp might need a rebuild but it will probably work about of the box
