Bug Description
While in the process of upgrading to Jaunty, I received a broken count error.
The guilty package is schooltool 2007 which I downloaded did not think I had installed.
Error: BrokenCount >0
The synaptic package manager gives this response:
E:schooltool-2007: subprocess pre-removal scrpit returned error exit status 2.
The detailed report is
.: 7: Can't open /usr/share/
dpkg: error processing schooltool-2007, action "stop" failed
subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 2
update-rc.d: warning: /etc/init.
I have also generated this message on unmet dependencies
Depends: python-schooltool it is not installable
python-zope.server
schooltool-common
updates and downloaded but not installable and I cannot add or delete applications.
Any help would be appreciated.

Open /etc/init. d/schooltool- 2007 script and change "stop" action to do nothing. I think you can simply delete the contents of the file except the first line. Then "stop" would succeed and the package can be removed:
dpkg --purge schooltool-2007
