Bug Description

This is a fresh install. I'm not sure if this bug can also be seen in unity, but I face it in Gnome-Shell.

Steps to reproduce:

1. install scan-tailor via ubuntu software centre
2. try to start it → nothing happens
3. try to start it via terminal; terminated with the following: ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 1679, errno = 0

Thanks for your help!
