simple-scan not working with canon pixma mx475 / sane problems

Bug Description
simple-scan does not work with the Canon Pixma MX475 network scanner.
When running with debug output (simple-scan -d), I get the following error:

1) Did this issue start happening after an update, or has it always not worked with Simple Scan? cdimage. ubuntu. com/daily- live/current/ and advise to the results?
2) Is the problem reproducible when connecting to the scanner via WiFi and USB?
