Bug Description

Mint 16 *and* Mint 17
Plug in USB scanner, start simple scan. It shows a spinner but never connects and scans.
Strangely, the scanner is shown properly in the preferences!
    Canon CanoScan N1240U/LiDE30
The scanner makes some noises but does not scan.

This used to work under Mint16 until some upgrade pooched it.

Hello Peter,

I think that this comes from sane-backends.

I switch it to this package.

Please can you run

SANE_DEBUG_DLL=3 scanimage -L

on a terminal, attach the output here and set the status back to confirmed

Thanks

Jörg

Jorg -

Thanks for looking into this. I attach the output from the scanimage
command you suggested.

Incidentally, simple-scan seems to work on a more recent install of Linux
mint on different hardware. I can provide details if that's useful.

Peter

Peter, did you manage to find a resolution. I have a Canon LiDE 35 scanner here that I'm currently struggling with in a similar fashion. For what it's worth, it seems to work somehow from a xenial live CD. Can you verify?

Still not working. Most recently, I thought it might be a UDEV problem, so
I set up a Udev rule for the scanner. That didn't help - at least with
Simple Scan.

The device is recognized as a USB device, so I expect the problem is a
missing driver.

The scanner works fine on Windows 8.1.
