scanimage -L fails with segmentation error double free

Bug Description

Since my upgrade to precise-amd64 from lucid-i386 I'm not able to scan anymore. I suspect that the problem is amd64 specific.

Problem occurs also on precise-i386

I used to see this previously but I no longer do in a xenial live CD. What about everybody else?

Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017.

We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in.
