Would like package to include additional header files

Binary package hint: samtools

Currently libbam-dev only includes a small subset of the BAM lib headers.

Could it please include all the headers? Preferably in /usr/include/bam as tools such as Cufflinks expect it there.

Dear Harold,

developments of the libbam-dev package take place in Debian. I monitor Launchpad nevertheless. I can move the header files to /usr/include/bam, but then another software, Bio::Samtools, will need manual configuration as it expects the headers in /usr/include. I will ask to the SAMtools developers for their recommendation.

Dear Harold,

we will soon upload samtools 0.1.16-1 to Debian, which will transiently distribute sam.h in /usr/include. We will later move it and all the other headers to /usr/include/samtools. (It is not possible to go directly for /usr/include/samtools as we need to take care of not touching libbio-samtools-perl during the transition to Perl 5.12 that currently takes place in Debian.)

In addition, we are preparing a package for Cufflinks. You can see its development at the following URL.
