  sudo testparm
  echo $?

Please attach the output to this bug report.

That did not quite capture the output I was looking for.

They probably need to be run as separate commands as the sudo prompt for password will get confused.

Any warning messages from sudo testparm are of particular importance.

echo $? should print a number indicating the return code of sudo testparm.

Please could you run them again.

Oh!
After running testparm it waits for pressing enter to show a dump of the service definitions.
I simply wrote '"echo $?" + enter' and misinterpreted the dump as output of my last command.

testparm outputs (*) + (after i pressed enter) the dump u have seen in my last post and it exits with 0.

(*):

We apologise for the lack of further responses, but Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin reached EOL on April 28, 2017. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

Please upgrade to the latest version and re-test. If the problem is still reproducible, please update this bug with the new information.
