We apologise for the late response, but Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin reached EOL
on April 28, 2017. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

I suspect in this case you may have a bad configuration /etc/samba/ smb.conf. Unfortunately it's not attached to this bug, and since this is a very old report I doubt the file is still available.
