Bug Description

Binary package hint: samba

After having the samba postinst script run and do nothing for well over an hour, I killed it with a signal 15 in order to unjam an upgrade.

root 21390 18831 0 16:27 pts/0 00:00:00 /usr/bin/perl -w /usr/share/debconf/frontend /var/lib/dpkg/info/samba.postinst configure 2:3.5.4~dfsg-1ubuntu3

This had been running for a long, long time (killed circa 17:45 local time) with no indication that anything was happening.

Just ran 'dpkg --configure -a' after the end of the upgrade process and the postinst script ran without issues.

Just hit the same issue on an upgrade from Lucid to Maverick (32bit) and also killed the process.
