Bug Description

Binary package hint: samba

I was using the update manager, and I got a crash report with the message "Sorry, the package "samba 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.3" failed to install or upgrade."

1) I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 (upgraded from the previous release - btw. the upgrade did NOT go smooth).
2)" ~$ apt-cache policy samba " returns:

samba:
  Installed: 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.3
  Candidate: 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.3
  Version table:

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5 0

Yes, thanks for asking. I've tried reinstalling both samba and winbind; they
uninstall fine, but produce errors when installing.

Tin.
