Bug Description

Binary package hint: samba

Is This a bug ?

I can not create a usershare read and WRITE for a certain user.
These are the commands I have entered :

root@server:~# net usershare add data /home/data "admin data" everyone:F
root@server:~# net usershare info
[data]
path=/home/data
comment=admin data
usershare_acl=Everyone:F
guest_ok=n

root@server:~# net usershare add data /home/data "admin data" frans:F
root@server:~# net usershare info
[data]
path=/home/data
comment=admin data
usershare_acl=AZ\frans:F
guest_ok=n

When EVERYONE is used, I can access the DATA folder (from a XP system) in read and WRITE.
In the file browser, properties/share on the DATA folder will show "allow other people to write in this folder" BEING SET.

When FRANS is used (user on the server), I cannot acces the data folder in WRITE mode, only read.
In the file browser, properties/share on the DATA folder will show "allow other people to write in this folder" NOT SET.

Is there an explanation ?
I am using Ubuntu 8.04 hardy, Samba 3.0.28a

Thanks for you reply.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Also, if this is still an issue for you, could you please let us know the permissions on the /home/data/ directory?

Hi Joel,

This problem is actually not a priority for me anymore, as I have decided to
use NAS systems linux based.

I am right now developing (converting) my software using XhGtk, with the
intention of moving the application in the future to a Linux based system.

Thanks for the follow up,

Frans
