to access a usb key plugged into the box I wanted to install simba with the packagekit; this installation was not successful

The error about the netbios name being too long is a known issue that's in process, here:

The error about the missing /run/samba dir and installation/configure issue has been reported previously, with some analysis, but we're still not sure how to reproduce it:
