Samba 'panic action' and segfault

Hey guys,

just this weekend I reveived an error mail with "Panic or segfault in Samba" and the content below. The system was updated 2 weeks ago. So there might be an issue with new commands in the config files?

Does anybody have a clue what on earth is going on?

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action, was called for PID 14932 (/usr/sbin/smbd).

Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.

Unfortunately we will need more data about what is going on, and what you have installed.

For starters, there is no samba version in this bug report, nor in which Ubuntu release it happened.

I suggest to run the following tool to attach information to this bug:

apport-collect -p samba 1818495

Preemptively, please also attach:
- /etc/samba/smb.conf
- logs from /var/log/samba/log*
