Title: package winbind 2:4.5.8+
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.
Unfortunately the logs just confirm that winbind failed to start, but do not have a reason.
Could you please attach the following files:
/etc/samba/smb.conf
/var/log/samba/log* (there are multiple files starting with "log", please pack them together in a tarball or zip file)
Another question: the computer where this happened, is it attached to the network via ethernet or just wifi? In other words, does the network only become available once you login?
Thanks
