Hi Franco,
I looked through the logs that were attached, but they didn't point me to a specific issue yet.
Just that the samba service isn't cleanly (re)starting on an related upgrade.

Since I didn't find any more in the logs, did you try as it wrote on the terminal and ran:
$ systemctl status smbd.service

If so did it point to any issue that can be worked on - mostly this is a broken configuration file or something like this.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.

If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

Changed in samba (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

You have an invalid configuration option in /etc/samba/smb.conf:

$ testparm ./smb.conf
Load smb config files from ./smb.conf
rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (1024) to minimum Windows limit (16384)
WARNING: The "syslog" option is deprecated
WARNING: Ignoring invalid value 'share' for parameter 'security'
Error loading services.

For this version of samba, "security = share" is no longer a valid setting. Valid values for the "security" parameter are auto, user, domain or ads.

Please fix the configuration setting and retry the operation.
