Bug Description

With the current version of smbclient (3.0.10-1ubuntu4), issuing

$ smbclient //<servername>/<sharename> -U<username>

and entering the password results in

Domain=[<domain>] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

If all I do is get the smbclient executable from the Hoary smbclient while the
rest of the system remains the same:

$ smbclient.hoary //<servername>/<sharename> -U<username>

and enter the password, everything is fine

Domain=[<domain>] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]
smb: \>

The same is true for smbfs, it too results in NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED when
trying to mount the same share.

Can you test with version 3.0.14a-1ubuntu1, which should be hitting the archive
shortly for your architecture?

apt-get upgraded, the problem is gone, the new version works properly.
