Unfortunately the log didn't hold any detailed information what exactly went wrong.

If you could provide the full output of
$ systemctl status smbd.service
that might help.

Also in most cases of this kind of bugs user installed a package in the past, then did not configure it (or expeerimented), but eventually ended up with a service not starting.
Now on the update the service is restarted and this is in most of the cases what is reported as the fail.

There again the output above might help.
If it wasn't working before the update the question is either:
1. fix its config up to work
2. remove it if not needed anyway

To assist one would likely need at least the output and maybe even more configuration details.
Marking it incomplete until provided.

sounds logical, maybe I did not finish samba installation properly long ago

I removed samba an reinstalled it. After that several updates have been fault free. Thanks for the suggestion
