Description: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Release: 16.04

Installing samba 2:4.3.9+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 (and 0ubuntu0.16.04.3 from proposed updates) fails the tests described in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller, after provisioning a new domain.

$ smbclient -L localhost -U%
Domain=[SAMDOM] OS=[Windows 6.1] Server=[Samba 4.3.9-Ubuntu]
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED

https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11910 describes the problem in detail and has a patch attached.

Upgrading to 4.3.10 fixes the problem also (the patch is included in 4.3.10)

Please fix - it's hard to setup a samba DC, when basic tests are failing already.

Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates for the policy, rationale and procedure for updating a stable release. If you can prepare a debdiff that fixes this problem in 16.04 and follow the procedure in the SRU page, we can get this fixed.

I've attached the debdiff of my local build.

You can find the patched packages here: http://ubuntu.aau.at/ubuntu.aau/dists/xenial/aau-testing/binary-amd64/

With the patched packages the bug is fixed.

It looks to me like the update to 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 in xenial included this fix already.

I'll close the bug, but please reopen if I'm wrong.
