We apologise for the lack of updates, but Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf reached EOL on July 28, 2016. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

That being said, I believe your problem is not samba related. Your log shows a lot of these messages:
insserv: Starting smfpd depends on ondemand and therefore on system facility `$all' which can not be true!

Whatever package is providing "smfpd" could be the culprit here. "dpkg -S /etc/init.d/smfpd" would tell you which package provides it, and then "apt-get policy <packagename>" would tell you where it comes from.
