samba4 is already available in Saucy under the samba4 source package: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4

This would be a pretty big leap, since samba is used on the desktop for various integration functions as well. We'd need to be very careful to not break anything.

Why do you think the default should be changed in Ubuntu?
