Subject: Roaming profiles are not fully saved at logoff from 2K/XP profiles with
 samba 3.0.8-2

Package: samba
Version: 3.0.8-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

This version of samba will not save roaming profiles correctly. Behaviour seems erratic saving profiles that already exist
on the server, and have been saved with samba 3.0.7-2, but will refuse to completely save all new profiles created under
3.0.8-2.

Profiles that have been saved under a previous samba version, at logoff from 2K/XP clients, *might* save fully, or Windows
might report access denied at any unpredictable point - usually a director such as Cookies, Nethood or Templates.

Profiles that do not presently exist on a Samba server running 3.0.8-2 will not properly save at all. Windows seems able to
write the registry files to the profile, but then reports: "Windows cannot copy the file C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\Cookies to location \\PDC\profiles\Administrator\Cookies ... DETAIL - Access is denied"

There are no problems with permissions at source or destination. The profile can be copied in manually, this error only
occurs when logging off.

Downgrading to Samba 3.0.7-2 fixes the problem.

The problem's occured on two test machines and both Windows 2000 / XP Pro clients. I'm using an LDAP backend on both.

This should be fixed in 3.0.9-1, which is already available in unstable.
