Bug Description
Binary package hint: rxvt-unicode
Hi,
for a long time I've been puzzled about howto get accents on character in the urxvt terminal. I have now found some logic in it.
In any ubuntu version up till now I've installed an international version of the US keyboard. With that I can type " ' e " to get an "é".
(typing the accent and the 'e' right after eachother).
But sometimes it didn't work, for no apparent reason.
I usually use urxvt as a terminal (i.e. rxvt-unicode) and have my LANG=en_US.utf8
Today I discovered that xterm doesn't have this problem: it always produces accented characters when I follow this procedure above.
In urxvt I can change the x11 focus by ALT-TABbing to another window. When I go to another urxvt terminal like that, this focussed terminal doesn't have the mouse pointing at it:
If it's a xterm, there's no problem: accents work.
If it's an urxvt, it doesn't work and I first have to move the mouse into the window to get the accents.
If you have this bug as well, you can either move your mouse 'manually' or write a script with xdotool to move the mouse in one keyboard click.
