Bug Description

Binary package hint: rxvt-unicode

Hi,

The rxvt program doesn't support 256 colors, as you can see if download and run:

http://www.cs.rice.edu/~scrosby/software/tf256color/src/256colors2.pl

I'm unable to use CSApprox (http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=2390) who makes my life with vim a lot more comfortable.

Someone already has pointed this out on Debian (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=493481) without success, I hope that on Ubuntu this can be better.

Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release: 10.04
rxvt-unicode:
  Installed: 9.06-3ubuntu1
  Candidate: 9.06-3ubuntu1

Thanks in advance.

Following this post: http://scie.nti.st/2008/10/13/get-rxvt-unicode-with-256-color-support-on-ubunut I was able to build rxvt-unicode with 256 colors support. I attach the patch. Use at your own risk.

Actually this was recently, today, fixed in Debian. The best thing to do would be to merge the new version of rxvt-unicode into Ubuntu.

Newer ubuntu versions have a rxvt-unicode-256color that seems to work.
