Bug Description
Binary package hint: ruby
The Ruby package is compiled with the --enable-pthreads option. This has been known to drastically slow down the interpreter by ~ 50%. The effect of this is that Ruby on Windows outperforms Ruby on Ubuntu.
--enable-pthreads is generally not used within the Ruby community.

Until there is action on this, the "best practice" will be to compile ruby from source, and not use this package, when using Ubuntu.
