Reported version is incorrect

Binary package hint: ruby

'apt-cache show ruby' reports version 1.8.2, but it actually is 1.8.4 because it depends on package ruby1.8. The same thing happens with packages irb, ri, rdoc and ruby-dev.

It's a somewhat important bug because there are some serious differences between Ruby 1.8.2 and Ruby 1.8.4.

Confirming this bug. Doing a `ruby --version` on the other hand reports the correct version.

package `ruby` reports version 1.8.2-1
package `ruby1.8` reports version 1.8.4-5ubuntu1

Still present in Feisty. Package "ruby" is Ruby 1.8.2 and package "ruby1.8" is Ruby 1.8.5.

Please, fix this. Having both packages is misleading. I understand there might be some problems with Ruby > 1.8.2 in certain applications but then the most logical step would be to rename those packages:
Ruby 1.8.5 (always latest version) ---------> package name "ruby"
Ruby 1.8.2 ---------> package name "ruby1.8.2"

i talked to the people on #ubuntu-motu and they told me that this version bump is not possible without cooperating with the debian guys.. (see http://bugs.debian.org/359810) .. but the bug report is about a year old without a response, so we shouldnt expect much
