Bug Description

On a clean install of Ubuntu Studio, after setting up and running Jack, apparently without any problems, midi output from Rosegarden doesn't produce any sound.

According to the AconnectGUI and Jack's 'Connections' dialog everything is connected as it should be with Rosegarden midi devices routed through TiMidity, but no sound is produced.

Playing midi files directly through TiMidity works fine.

I'm not sure where the bug is as everything appears to be working OK, apart from the lack of sound, hence I'm not sure what information to submit with the report.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?

Same problem here on vanilla Ubuntu 10.4. All Jack connections set up, there's no audio.
The audio mixer does not show any signal.

Interestingly, when playing audio from the Audio File Manager, there *is* audible JACK
playback and signal is showing in the audio mixer of Rosegarden both on Audio #1
and master volume as well as the mini vu meter in the first audio track.

However when the audio track is tragged to channel 17 (untitled audio) and assigned
Audio #1 and Play is clicked on main transport control, there is no sound at all. I have
verified that the channel is not muted.

Timidity assumes output to ALSA. If JACK is running, that means no audio. Launch timidity as follows:

timidity -Oj -iAD

That should get you sound when JACK is running.
