Bug Description

libdnet should not recommend dnet-common. I think it's safe/fair to
say that DECnet is a pretty esoteric protocol at this point and
doesn't enjoy widespread usage, so libdnet pulling in the dnet-common
package with its init scripts (and MAC address munging) is not
reasonable.

(We ended up with dnet-common installed via ices2 -> libroar1 ->
 libdnet -> dnet-common for example.)

libdnet is all about DECnet. What seems to be needed is for the roaraudio package to be built with DECnet support & lookup disabled, then the dependencies on libdnet could be removed ? I've added the roaraudio package to this bug to get feedback from the maintainer.

this is "fixed" in debian: http://packages.qa.debian.org/d/dnprogs/news/20120518T124809Z.html
the sync is currently blocked by kmod missing in quantal.

fixing roaraudio would be the better way and so far I know it is in progress in debian.

The latest dnprogs merge is in ubuntu quantal repositories now which should fix the bug in dnprogs

dnprogs (2.60ubuntu1) quantal; urgency=low

 * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
   - Change kmod dependency back to module-init-tools
     kmod is unavailable in quantal

dnprogs (2.60) unstable; urgency=low

 * Fixed lots of Debian things that caused lintian problems and
   upgraded policy version
   Closes: #673408
 * Fix some warnings that might be bugs
 * Incorporate NMU into main tree.

dnprogs (2.59+nmu2) unstable; urgency=medium

 * NMU
 * dnprogs binaries are Linux-only, so state that. Move dnet-common back
   to binary-all. Closes: #665886

dnprogs (2.59+nmu1) unstable; urgency=low
