Bug Description

Well, everything is in the title.
If I want to quit properly, I have to pause the song and then quit. If I don't pause before, the song continues playing and rhythmbox is still running in background (no indicator in the launcher though).

For other NOOBs (like me)
use the kill bit :-)
$>lsof -i
$>kill [rhythmbox PID as listed from previous commands]

I hate to say this, but I believe this behavior is by design. I created an issue like this long ago and it got rejected....

Try using Quit in the menu instead of the cross, it should do the trick.
I personnaly think that only closing the Gui is useful.

Incredibly surprising, had to google how to stop the sound. Who new that the volume indicator suddenly had the music player that I killed inside it? There's exactly zero indication to what's happening, and the perception is that somehow the player wasn't properly killed. Very bad usability.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
