rhythmbox controls at unity does not work

I use Dell XPS 1640, running Ubuntu 12. Rhythmbox controls at unity (top notification bar under the sound section) do not work. None of them works (play, previous, next...), also when i click on the name, while it should show the main window, it does nothing. It was fine before i did Ubuntu updates this week, i wonder if that caused the problem or something else.

please run rhythmbox as: rhythmbox --debug &> rhythmbox-debug.txt ;
perform the steps to reproduce the bug and attach that resulting log

Okay, I tried to do it and hope i succeeded. Is the attached what you meant? Otherwise, can you let me know step by step on how to prepare the document?

I am unsure as to why you would be seeing this.

Can you confirm that banshee or spotify or other MPRIS compliant players are working via the menu ?

Yes I can confirm that Rhythmbox is the only player that I am using. I uninstalled and re-installed but no chance, the controls do not work.

But can you tell me if Banshee cannot be controlled from the menu ? Both players, rhythmbox and Banshee, use the same technique to allow themselves to be driven from the menu.

Oh I see. Yes they work just fine. I just installed Banshee and it is okay to control from the notification bar. It is weird why this does not work on Rhythmbox.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
