Bug Description

I use an external usb drive to store my music, I added the music folder on my external usb as the library in preferences. Now when I did this it did not look like it was adding anything to the library so I clicked import folder and imported the music folder from the external usb drive. This imported all my files however they did not show up in library under music, showed all my files under devices which is not what I wanted as it was having to rescan the library every time I started the program. Then I clicked the sync to library button which deleted all my files without so much as asking me. Ubuntu 12.04 beta 1 and rhythmbox 2.95.

Ya i set my music folder in rythmbox to my music folder on my old windows partition which worked fine if i had it mounted. Then i started listening to the music and it started skipping to the next song for no reason so i clicked stopped closed rythmbox and opened it again. When i re-opened it all my music was no longer in the library i thought it was just a glitch but when i checked the actual folder it was emtpy also.

I have a second hard drive that I mount which contains all my music. Changed the rhythym box directory to the mounted drive after I upgraded to 14.04. Worked OK for a while. THis morning when I started up it started listing all the music in the the directory and then it all disappeared. Looked at the drive and the folder was deleted.

WHY IS THIS EXPIRED?

This should be a TOP PRIORITY, Rythmbox deleted my entire library too... What right does Rythmbox have to delete my music? That was a 10 year old collection and now it is ALL gone...

This is an important issue, and should be reopened and marked CRITICAL!

I just wanted to note, that I did not "sync" I simply added my music folder. It decided I guess to "sync" automatically, or it just decided it wanted to delete my files.

Deletion of any files "en masse" is a dangerous thing regardless of file contents, hence why I suggested it be a "critical" issue.

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue using a maintained version of Ubuntu then please let us know otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.
