[Maverick] Rhythmbox fails to start

If I start Rhythmbox the main window appears for 2 seconds and suddenly closes.

I reproduced this using this morning's Ubuntu Maverick build (20100828). Fresh install, startup Rhythmbox it comes up briefly then crashes

BTW, clicking on the /var/crash/rhythmbox.1000.crash file says

The problem cannot be reported:

The program crashed on an assertion failure, but the message could not be retrieved. Apport does not support reporting these crashes.

so don't know how much else I can reproduce for now...

Apport cannot report this problem (assertion error) hence the crash file

Here is a possible workaround...
I erased my rhythmbox configuration directory and copied my old one from my Karmic partition and it started right up! :)

rm -rf ~/.local/share/rhythmbox/
cp -a /media/karmic_OLD/.local/share/rhythmbox/ ~/.local/share/
