Hi, Ben, I wasn't sure what to do, so I didn't uninstall Rhythmbox, I just went to the place where I could investigate the situation about the sentence I found when I followed the Ubuntu Software Centre, through the "sound and video" choice and located Rhythmbox, which led me to a page that said "You need the python-coherence package for DLNA/UPnp sharing plugin." I have no real idea what that means, but I googled the phrase after "the..." and it took me to a place where I couldn't understand anything, but I read it, hoping to figure it out, but couldn't really, so I decided to just wait till I heard from you again. The Rhythmbox place under the Software Centre said Rhythmbox was installed on this computer, and it had a button labelled "Remove" but I didn't do anything with it. I did try to follow your instructions in this email, but maybe it won't work because I didn't uninstall Rhythmbox? I typed in what you said in Terminal, under Accessories, and it asked for my password, which I tried to type in, but I tried several times, and though the thickish bar was there, nothing I typed showed a response on the screen there, and nothing happened. Maybe it doesn't matter, since I hadn't uninstalled Rhythmbox? So, does that mean we can do something now to get Linux to load the CD's properly again? I'm sorry I wasn't clear that I was only asking whether that would help the situation (to uninstall/reinstall), and didn't actually intend to try it unless I was told to. I've gotten pretty reluctant to do anything I'm not entirely sure of, given the hassle upgrading has caused me! So I promise, I'll only do what you tell me. Next step? Thank you for your help! I really hope we can "move on to fully debugging this issue" now, and I'm very grateful for your patience! Sincerely, Doris > Date: Sat, 2 Jan 2010 19:12:02 +0000 > From:
