Hello there,

Thanks for reporting this error, we need a little bit more information to move forward.
* The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd'
* The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy rhythmbox'
* Did rhythmbox open? If so what was you doing before the crash?

Many Thanks
Neil Perry

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

To trace the issue they need that Apport crash report.
At the bottom of this page you can see 'Add an attachment'.
Click on it, you'll see a search inbox. Navigate to /var/crash, search for the related crash file and upload.

my crash report in VAR is nulle...nothing there but i did have an apport file to send. It went independently of the bug report (434821) on file

Computer deies me access to VAR.crash report.

How do I get around this?

Ken Johnson (pebmich-comcast) wrote :

apport report does not go to the VAR/crash file and the apport file cannot be channelized to a bug report such as this one that is already on file.

Suggest for higher ups that bug reporting mechanism be overhauled to edit apport report (select all, copy, etc) and enable appending bug reports to bug reports by bug report number, e.g., in our case here, 434821.
