Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I was trying to copy music to my iPod, after the crash I've discover that it
was mounted as read-only, after remounting it as read-write it doesn't crashes
again but i remember that in the past rhythmbox showed me a dialog saying that
it wasn't possible to copy to the iPod because it was mounted as ro and it
didn't crashed.

Experienced this after copying songs off ipod touch - Later on while unmounted it asked me if I wanted to overwrite a file on the computer, I tried to click no, and it crashed.

I got something like this problem.

It gives me a kernel error. The problem occurs when I try to use Rythmbox to copy tracks to my ipod.

i686 xubuntu 12.10 and 13.04 the same.

I filed as crash report.

It has been like this for many months. I had been waiting for upgrade in the hope that this would correct the problem. It has not.

I have meanwhile been copying tracks for my ipod onto a usb and then doing the transfer using Rhythmbox on another machine running Xubuntu 12.04 i386. The later Xubuntu version did not install on this machine because the kernel dropped support for non-PAE CPUs. This may suggest a kernal problem.

The following line appeared in kern.log when Rhythmbox crashed:

May 21 19:46:03 Bonzo kernel: [36390.947600] rhythmbox[5566]: segfault at 30 ip 00007f5a9122ecd0 sp 00007fff127575e8 error 4 in libgstpbutils-1.0.so.0.6.0[7f5a9121f000+22000]

This may be a different error to the one being dealt with here. Please advise if so and I will file it as a separate report, if necessary. Perhaps you will be kind enough to deal with accordingly?

This bug appears to have been fixed!

It seems so.

I installed Rhythbox the other day, completely on the off-chance because I had got fed up with being unable to update my ipod. And it worked! I just did it again too!

This is brilliant. Linux is brilliant. We are really not worthy of such greatness, us miserable ungrateful, scrounging users. What have we done to deserve such gifts? I am sorry for ever doubting linux. I am sorry for every foul word.

I just wish I had consulted a clairvoyant months ago, because I might have discerned sooner that the bug had been fixed and it was possible to update my ipod again.

Don't mind us, we'll just talk amongst ourselves.
