Rhythmbox asks to overwrite files during transfer to iPod

After deleting all music from my iPod Classic, I put more music back on with Rhythmbox. But I found that if the first 27 characters of several song filenames (excluding extension) are the same, Rhythmbox sometimes pauses the transfer and asks if you want to overwrite the first one with the second. No matter whether you say yes or no, one of the two songs is not transferred.

Expected outcome:
Rhythmbox renames the file, as this has no effect on iPods, and transfers it.

Thanks for the report, could you get a rhythmbox log of the operation? please run rhythmbox as: rhythmbox --debug&> rhythmbox-debug.txt ; perform the operation in order to reproduce the bug and attach the resulting file to the report, thanks.

Of course, the log is extremely large (>10MB) however thanks in part to it listing every song in my ~5k collection many times over. I've found the section of it that seems to document only the bug; I'll post that as a separate attachment.

Just in case this helps, here's just the section that documents the bug. I tested it by copying over 30 blank MP3s all starting with "This is actually a blank MP3 and not anything else, remember", and the bug came up a few times.

8.10 Intrepid, 64-bit, with all the latest updates from intrepid-security and intrepid-updates. I experienced the same issue just today.

Patch which adds a suffix to truncated file names. This reduces the chance of name collision enough to allow groups of songs to be copied.

I observe this behaviour in rhythmbox 0.12.8-0ubuntu

Copying data to or from an Apple iPod produces multiple prompts to overwrite files.
