crashes when ffwd or rev after upgrade to 8.10

Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

After upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10, rhythmbox crashes whenever I try to fast-forward or reverse on any song that is playing, ogg, flac, mp3. Application locks up (Not Responding), window turns grey, and must force-quit.

do you use the crossfading option? does not using it workaround the bug? could be bug #270700

Disabling crossfade (edit>preferences>playback) works around the bug. Is there a fix for #270700?

closing as duplicate, there is a fix upstream but not in ubuntu yet
