Bug Description

Attempting to change the properties of many tracks that are write-protected will cause the 'Error while saving song information - Access denied' dialog to popup once for each tracks.

To reproduce:
- Change the permission on a number of music files using Nautilus or the command line (ie: chmod -w *).
- Select multiple tracks in Rhythmbox
- Change their property as one (right-click -> Properties)
- The error dialog should now display itself for every one of the read-only tracks.

Ideally, the dialog should be displayed once with a summary of the problems. A 'details' button to display the individual failures on the dialog would also be a nice touch.

Addendum: The changes persist in Rhythmbox, but not on the file itself (ie: properties from Nautilus does not show changes)

thank you for your bug report, what ubuntu version do you use?

the issue is an upstream one, could you open a bug on bugzilla.gnome.org too?

I'll open the same bug on bugzilla.gnome.org.

Let me know if I'm missing anything else!

This bug hit me pretty badly tonight when I tried to delete around 250 files from my ipod and immediately copy another 350 files onto it when the filesystem had been inadvertently mounted as root instead of my user.

As far as I can tell, rhythmbox tried to pop up a "permission denied" dialog for each and every file, which caused metacity to freak out and spin at 100% for over five minutes.

Needless to say, the desktop was totally unresponsive for that time. Even after metacity settled down, rhythmbox was totally unusable and the process had to be killed.
