Pedro, This is certainly a usability bug. You can not expect average user to edit gconf keys. Also the option was present on UI in sound-juicer. So if rhythmbox plans to replace it, it should have same option in UI.

2008-09-03 14:03:17 Onkar Shinde description Binary package hint: rhythmbox In intrepid Rhythmbox is replacing sound juicer as CD ripper. THere is one bug problem. Rhythmbox does not have option 'Strip Special Characters' in the preferences. So whenever I try to rip a song with special characters like '!' in the name to a FAT32 file system, rhythmbox gives an error. Also it shows wrong error for which I will file another bug. I am attaching screenshots of both rhythmbox and sound juicer preferences. Binary package hint: rhythmbox In intrepid Rhythmbox is replacing sound juicer as CD ripper. There is one big problem. 2008-09-10 13:27:04 Pedro Villavicencio rhythmbox: statusexplanation comment from upstream: "No, it's a bad idea to have an option for this sort of thing. Average users should not have to do *anything at all* just to get things working. We should always ensure the target filesystem can handle the filenames we create, and in fact that's what we try to do. It's just broken at the moment. " Feel free to comment on the upstream report if they re open the bug we'll do the same, thanks.
